Roves Farm is 3 miles east of Swindon. The enterprise focuses mainly on sheep, but also grows arable crops, short rotation coppice for energy production, and woodland.
Owned and run by Rupert and Joanna Burr, the 154 hectare farm has a substantial, and growing, visitor centre with associated conservation areas and farm trails.
The farmhouse dates back to 1835, but Roman remains may be found on the farm. Ridge and furrow landscaping in the fields and extensive land workings in nearby Sevenhampton village indicate a great deal of mediaeval habitation. The 60 hectares of arable land is now farmed by a neighbour on a contract basis. During 2004 almost half of the hectares will be put into Set Aside.
