What's on our plate and where it comes from... "the chicken and the egg": New Research from Countryside Classroom.
Tuesday, 15 November 2016 15:27

Countryside Classroom logoWhen Countryside Classroom launched a little over a year ago the mission was simple: To help teachers to educate their pupils about food, farming and the natural environment in a fun and creative way whilst making the search for relevant and up to date resources as easy as possible, whilst being free at point of access.

Over 31,000 people use the Countryside Classroom site and over 200 contributors have joined to share resources, activities and advice. The team at FACE, the lead partner, recently commissioned research with 500 non-users of the resource to find out what they teach and what would make them more likely to engage.

The main objectives of this research were to:

· Identify how aware teachers are of the benefits of learning about food, farming and the natural environment, by exploring the perceived importance of educating children in these areas.

· Explore how motivated teachers are to incorporate food, farming and the natural environment into their regular teaching practice.

· Understand how able teachers are to incorporate food, farming and the natural environment into their teaching practice.

FACE is Fifteen!
Tuesday, 19 July 2016 09:55

FACEIn 2016 FACE has reached its fifteenth birthday.

To celebrate our many successes over the time since our inception in 2001, we have created a timeline which we'd love to share with you.  It highlights some of the significant occasions we have witnessed and many of the activities we have carried out.

If you are a long-standing member of FACE, please indulge in some reminiscence therapy by taking a look.  If you are new to FACE, please view the timeline to find out about our past achievements. Together we plan to continue and improve on past experience to ensure children and their teachers are better engaged with food, farming and the countryside.

Happy Birthday FACE!
