Schmallenberg Virus and Farm Visits

The following advice has been received from the NFU:

There is no evidence of any risk to human health from SBV. There is also no reason for people to stay away from farms that open their gates to visitors.

However, pregnant women should not visit lambing flocks as there are two bugs that can cause miscarriage in humans.  Pregnant women should avoid any close contact with sheep, cattle or goats that are giving birth.
