Bath Farm Girls produce quinoa on the family farm in Somerset and are making a generous contribution to FACE.
Bath Farm Girls have offered to donate to FACE 30p per kilo pack of quinoa sold up until February 2018.
Emily and her parents Ros and Gerald, have farmed together on the family farm near Bath since her teens. She has an older brother James who is completing his PhD on precision agriculture and she lives on the farm with her husband, Eddie, an IT sales manager, and two daughters Rosa and Charlotte aka the other two-thirds of the Bath Farm Girls! In Rosa's early years she had a gluten sensitivity. After experimenting with various gluten-free ingredients in the kitchen, Emily came across quinoa and decided to have a go at growing it on the farm.
After a successful trial crop in 2013, Emily teamed up with The British Quinoa Company who she predominantly grows quinoa for, however, with lots of help from her family she also packages some of it on the farm to sell under the 'Bath Farm Girls' label to the local community.
Emily says: 'As a mum of two young girls myself, I passionately believe that if children are taught about food in a fun and hands-on environment, it will help them make healthy food choices in the future. It might even inspire a few to consider a career in agriculture or food production, or simply have a go at growing their own food at home.
We are delighted to be in a position to support FACE through the sale of our own farm produce, we also hope to have some educational school visits in the future.'
FACE CEO Dan Corlett added: "We are so pleased that Emily and the team at Bath Farm Girls have chosen to support Farming and Countryside Education. A journey of discovery into farming and the countryside begins with the food we eat so it's great that they will be raising awareness of our work through this British grown and healthy product. We hope their customers will take delight in knowing that by buying this produce, they are helping FACE to help children develop a love of food and the natural environment."
