Eastburn Warren Farm Profile

Eastburn Warren Farm is one of a group of six farms owned or tenanted by the JSR Farming Group in East Yorkshire, a total area of 1693ha. JSR refer to these as their Yorkshire Lowland Group, and they run these farms from Southburn Farm close to Eastburn Warren.

A further four farms, totalling 1824ha, belonging to the JSR Yorkshire Wold Group, lie on the chalk uplands to the north of Driffield, and are run from Haywold Farm.

Eastburn Warren Farm covers around 170ha and most of the land is arable, producing winter wheat and barley, vining peas, sugar beet and potatoes. However a very important part of JSR operations is pig rearing, and one of their units takes up a hectare of land at Eastburn Warren. The role of the unit is to produce high quality breeding stock for eventual sale to other pig producers, both in the UK and abroad.

Only the very best of pigs produced each year are sold for breeding, the remainder going for bacon and pork production.
